You are perhaps in for a surprise! It is likely that you have heard of this tender weed which can effectively cure many health conditions and detox your body with its herbal qualities. Cheap and safe to the extent that it could be given even to pregnant women (only for the iron contained in it and not for detoxing) - we are referring to the magic herb called dandelion.

Dandelion contains an amazing number of vitamins and minerals and thus could be used to nurture the whole body, just the way vitamin and mineral supplements are used. The large number of essential vitamins and minerals it carries can impress even the most stoic amongst us: vitamins A, C and K, Choline, B-complex, iron, silicon, magnesium, manganese, potassium, sodium, phosphorus and copper. It is an all-time favorite for health conscious eaters who use the leaves for salads.

Dandelion works to detox the liver and thereby fixes all hormonal imbalance. Hormone metabolism is one of the many properties of the liver and this is because of this fact. Once your liver is in good health, you can cope with menopausal symptoms, PMS and irregularity of menstrual cycles.

Dandelion is known for its strong diuretic action and this causes loss of weight. This need not tamper with the original cause of weight gain, but can be of immense in weight loss without consuming any of the important potassium content of the body.

So it turns out that dandelion could realistically deal with the underlying issue of weight gain if it is related to poor digestion. It can smoothen bowel movement, since it enhances production of bile from the gall bladder. If you use it for this you can take it for a few months to get a gallbladder and liver tune-up but remember to taper off using it slowly. Prompting many natural actions and working up many secretions of the digestive system are also activities of the weed, just as in indigestion. It puts back your digestive organs back on track without much effort from your side. Some people have trouble digesting fat due to insufficient bile but dandelion will come to the rescue again.

In case you wish to detox with dandelion, using it is prohibited if you have allergy to it or currently suffering from inflammation of the gall bladder, intestinal blockage or obstruction in the bile duct. Adults need to have 250 to 500 mg three times a day along with meals. Physician advice is recommended before use. Nature offers several excellent options for us to remain healthy.
