Are Wu Yi Tea and Oolong Tea the Same Thing?

Simple! Because wu yi tea is oolong tea. Confusing? It is not, really, but first you should know a few things about the various types of tea.

Camellia sinensis is the plant for which all real teas are harvested. The final product, or variety, depends on how it is processed.

Over 75% of tea produced in the world is the highly popular black tea. The leaves are harvested and then withered by leaving them out. The remaining moisture is then rolled out via a machine (CTC) or the old-fashioned way by hand (orthodox). The hand method leaves the tea in tact more while the CTC method is a bit harsher leaving the leaves more crushed.

They are then spread out in a cool, damp place to oxidize. This turns the leaves from green to brownish color. The tea leaves are then dried using hot air. Finally, the tea is sorted into various grades depending the final leaf size.

Green tea goes through a similar process, however the oxidation step is left out which allows the leaves to remain green. Instead, after the tea is dried, it is steamed to stop the oxidation process. This also helps maintain the integrity of the nutrients in green tea, though black tea also retains some of its nutritional value. Green tea is rather grassy in flavor due to the lack of oxidation.

Now, white tea is a rather special little tea. It is harvested only few days a year when the buds on the Camellia sinensis plant have yet to open. White tea processing is like green tea, but the young leaves lend to a very delicate, smooth flavor and aroma. We are finally seeing more white tea distribution, though it was once reserved for Chinese nobility. Because of its difficulty in harvesting, it is rather pricey.

Perhaps oolong is the best tea because it is not as pricey as white tea, but it has a great flavor more like black tea. Plus, it retains most of its nutrients and weight loss capabilities like green tea and white tea. Unlike white or green tea, oolong tea is oxidized to some extent, which is what lends to the flavor. However, it still has most of its nutrients and it can be harvested like green or black tea using more mature leaves.

Okay, so why do we call some oolong tea, wu yi tea? Think of it more as a brand name, but perhaps a bit more special. Wu yi tea is oolong tea so named for the chain of mountains where it grows. The Wuyi mountain chain in Northeastern China is home to the Camellia sinensis plant where wu yi tea is harvested.

You can sort of compare the naming to Florida oranges or Washington apples. This northeastern area of China is capable of growing the best tea in the world because of the climate. The soil, cool weather and protection from the mountains produce great tea.

Drink enough water when you’re on your diet. You should be getting at least six to eight glasses of water a day, which will help you lose weight; it will do this because you’ll be filled up with water to some extent and will eat less. It’s been shown as well that when you drink more water, your metabolism works better, which can also help you boost weight loss.

Get more fiber in your diet. The fiber you get should come from food-based sources like vegetables, beans, whole grain cereals, fruits, and legumes.

DON’T use diet pills. Not only are they potentially dangerous, but they’ll slow your metabolism down by cutting your appetite drastically and making it more difficult for you to lose weight. Again, you’ll certainly lose weight at first if you drastically cut calories, but in the long run, you’ll only hurt your efforts to lose weight permanently — and more than that, you’ll probably hurt your health by using diet pills, too.

Apart from eating healthy while on diet, you should make sure to exercise 3 times a week. You do not have to perform strenuous exercises. Exercising at least 3 times a week keeps your metabolism active, which makes it possible to lose weight more quickly.

Again, there is no “magic” diet plan that’s going to help you with quick weight loss, without having to make changes, too. However, you can lose weight quickly and healthfully if you do things right and don’t engage in fad diets. Remember, your health comes first even when it comes to quick weight loss. So make sure your diet plan incorporates that consideration; do that, and you can stay healthy and fit for the rest of your life.

How to Burn Belly Fat and Why Ab Machines Can’t do it Alone

Have you seen one of those TV commercials for machines for the abs? It’s always a fit man or woman that is demonstrating the machine. Because the infomercial is psychologically placing the idea in your head that if you buy the machine and use it, you will look like the people demonstrating the machine, they won’t show a full figured person working the machine. All the testimonials will end with people swearing by the product and talking about how the product has changed their life.

I do not doubt that these persons lose weight with ab machines. Even though an ab machine will burn up some calories, I would be they were doing more than just using an ab machine. Those people were active and most likely ran and did cardio. Most likely the have changed their eating habits too.

Ab machines will build muscle in the abdominal area, and they are great for burning calories. But this doesn’t mean that you can eat anything you want, as much as you want, anytime you want.

Yes, ab machines will build up muscle around the waistline, but an improper diet will cause fat to build up on top of the muscles! Look at Sumo wrestlers as a great example of this, they have huge stomachs, with tons of muscle behind the fat. They follow strict exercise and eating habits to build the fat over top of muscle.

A critical part of losing the belly is exercise and mental attitude. Appropriate nutrition is one more aspect that is equally vital.

Fat builds up in your system as you are sleeping, and that is why you should never eat anything directly before going to bed. Studies have found that people who eat a big breakfast and a sensible lunch and dinner have trimmer waistlines. This is because after they eat breakfast, they spend the rest of the day burning calories.

High calorie foods are things like fried foods, soda pop, and desserts, try to stay away from them if you can. Replace fried foods like French fries and potato chips with vegetables. You will have more energy and be taking in fewer calories at the same time.

I want to emphasize that there is nothing wrong with working the abdominal muscles and using ab machines, I just don’t want people to have unrealistic expectations. All the major muscles of the body should be given a work out every now and then, but know that ab machines alone cannot and will not trim your waistline. Burning belly fat takes the right balance of proper diet and exercise.
