After Dealing With Cystic Acne Comes Treatment Of Acne Marks

Acne happens in many young adults all over the world. Likely due to changing hormone levels, these red pimples which, in worsened cases, have unsightly pus, are stubborn and tough to manage. The outcome of acne is beyond skin deep. Teenagers suffering from this skin condition present lower self-esteem, even if it is a condition shared among peers.

Although it may take a long time, acne can go away. But what it leaves behind is another problem to be handled — bad scars on the face, back, or neck where acne has broken. The scars are so deep that sometimes make up cannot render them less viewable.

Do consult with your skin doctor for which intervention is most applicable to you. The precept behind acne scar intervention is basically about causing a standard injury to the level of the skin, either by burning it or through surgery, to even out the scars or marks and to give way to fresh skin during healing.

Laser treatments. Laser light or beams are employed to put down the epidermis, or the outer skin layer, and to heat the underlying skin or the dermis. Utilising laser treatments like pulsed light are less strong and succeed at heating the dermis without having to burn the epidermis.

Dermarollers. This procedure makes use of a wire brush that rotates so fast, and then is rolled onto the skin, to remove the outer skin layer. This may cause some stinging sensation on the skin, but is a dependable way to take away surface scars.

Filling treatment. A collagen or gel is inserted or filled into the recessed acne scar so that it comes out even with the surface of the skin and less visible as a scar. If and when dermabrasion and laser light beams fail, filling treatment can help even the skin surface and make the scars go away, but only while the fill lasts. Just like Botox, instant results can be had from a filling intervention, but you have to have the patience to keep coming back to the skin doctor for maintenance.

Operation. In worst cases, a limited surgical procedure is required to make acne scars less visible. A cut or incision is made onto the individual acne scar to repair it with skin grafts, or with natural skin which may form while the wounds heal.

Distressed with acne? Dealing with unsightly acne marks? If make-up doesn’t help, let your friendly skin doctor help you treat acne and acne marks for good.

Succeeding In Weight Loss: The Internal Fat Metre

Dieters are incessantly harried with the trouble of weight loss and keeping weight off. The usual experience among dieters is that excess weight is exhausting to lose, and normally comes back shortly. Crash dieters are under a vicious cycle. After starvation for a duration of time, they lose control and pick up an even greater appetite to eat. Then they become twice suffering, because they find out that just when they began a weight loss programme, they have gained more weight.

A fresh theory on weight loss has been the talk of many weight loss practitioners and dieters. The MIT Medical accounted about the set point approach. This theory indicates that the brain’s hypothalamus has a special mechanism that governs weight. And that a person who keeps a happy disposition which in return will help him stay active in good physical activities is able to pull off weight more. Meanwhile, the person who is depressed is slackened, and with it, the body’s set point is so small that it also diminishes ability to cut fats and lose weight.

The set point weight loss theory proposes that if a person’s fat level falls below the set point, then the body will react by raising appetite. This shows why crash dieters who famish themselves for a time, only find an even stronger appetite for food intake afterwards, therefore defeating the purpose of dieting.

Key to the set point weight loss approach is to sustain the internal set point low, but to do so step by step. There has been case studies narrating that just when the dieter quit dieting and developed a normal affair with food instead, taking just a little but not inadequately and appreciating food for what nutrients it offers the body, then weight loss just occurred on its own.

This weight loss theory, merged with aerobic exercises that burn fat and build muscles, help keep off lost weight. These exercises may take on biking, swimming, and running.

In extreme cases where surgery may be warranted for weight loss, seeking help from professionals is advised. Women who desire to improve their physical appearance with treatments for hair removal must do the same.

Weight Loss Tips - Best Weight Loss Foods

Eating the right things is not just about avoiding high fat foods. Many foods have specific properties which will help you lose weight faster than other low calorie foods, due to properties such as increased appetite control, increased fat burning or even increased metabolism. The following are my best weight loss tips for the best foods to include in your diet to accelerate fat loss.

Nuts! - Because nuts are quite high in fat, dieters tend to avoid nuts. However, research suggests that it isn’t that straightforward. According to a review study published in the Journal of Nutrition (138:1741S-1745S, 2008), nuts are associated with a lower body fat. Also, when subjects add nuts to their diet, it did NOT cause weight gain The researchers believe that nuts help fill you up (thanks to the fiber) and it’s possible that not all of the calories from nuts are absorbed into your body. Some research also found that it was easier for people to stick to a diet when nuts were in their meal plan. More research has also shown that subjects lost more fat mass when they substituted almonds for complex carbohydrates in their diet.

Eggstatic ABout Eggs! - Researchers from Louisiana State University in the U.S. looked at the eating habits of a group of overweight and obese women. The women, who were following a low-fat diet, were asked to eat either two eggs a day for breakfast, or have a bagel. The two meals contained the same number of calories and weighed roughly the same amount. However, after eight weeks of breakfasting, the slimmers who had eaten eggs had lost the most weight. As well as shedding 65 per cent more pounds than the bagel eaters, they had lost almost twice as many inches from their waistline. Previous research showed that those who ate eggs for breakfast felt fuller for longer than those who had a bagel and cheese. As a result, they ate less during the rest of the day. It is not completely clear why eggs are so good at making us feel full but it is thought their high protein content could play a large part. Researcher Dr Nikhil Dhurandhar, an obesity expert, said: “The resulting decrease in energy consumption lasted for at least 24 hours after the egg breakfast.”

The Magic of Mushrooms - In one study, volunteers who had mushrooms rather than meat, in four otherwise identical meals a week shed almost 13lbs (6kg) over five weeks, with one losing 1.5 stone (9.5kg). In another study, reported by ‘The Telegraph’, Margaret Hill, a 25-year-old mother-of-two from Dagenham in Essex, went from 13st 6lbs to 11st 1lb. “I was amazed by my weight loss - it’s the most I have ever managed to lose. I never thought I’d get my body back after I had my kids so I am over the moon. I look and feel fantastic,”. Mushrooms are a low energy-dense protein source. Their chewy texture and bulky nature and protein content mean that they fill you up, whilst providing very few calories, unlike meat, which has a much higher energy density. They are also cheaper to buy than meat.

Yes Yes Yes Yoghurt! - Researchers at the University of Tennessee, United States of America, found that obese adults, who ate three servings of fat-free yoghurt a day as part of a reduced calorie diet, lost 22 per cent more weight and 61 per cent more body fat than those who simply cut calories. Yoghurt eaters also lost 81 per cent more fat in the stomach area than non-yoghurt eaters. They were also about twice as effective at maintaining lean muscle mass. Yoghurt is a perfect accompaniment to many meat based dishes, such as casseroles, chillis and curries and helps to lower the fat density of the meal, thus filling you up for fewer calories

Drink Your Milk! - In a recent study, australian scientists found overweight people who downed about 2 1/2 cups of skim milk in the morning consumed 8.5 percent fewer calories at an all-you-can-eat lunch spread than people who drank the same amount of fruit juice. This is due to the protein content of milk.

Be Beautiful With Beans - Scientists found that people who consumed beans were 23 percent less likely to have large waists than those who said they never ate them. Legumes are a super weight loss foods as they are very low energy dense protein foods, contributing filling protein, without the fat calories of many meat foods, such as lamb, bacon and mince. They are rich in belly-filling fiber without being high in calories, thus filling you up for very few calories.

Eat Your Apples! - Penn State researchers discovered that people who ate a large apple 15 minutes before lunch took in 187 fewer calories during lunch than those who didn’t snack beforehand. (The apples had around 128 calories.) They reported feeling fuller afterward, too. Apples are the best craving busters, when you are craving something sweet or just want to grab something , without having to prepare anything. Crunch down a couple of apples and there won’t be any room for such baddies as chocolate and crisps and you’ll find the craving has mercifully been banished.

These are my best weight loss tips for the best foods to include in your diet to help you reach your weight loss goals faster or even for the first time to actually reach the weight loss goals which can prove so elusive.

Losing Weight Through Jogging

July 25, 2010 by Adam Hernandez

Jogging is practiced by a lot of people. It helps keep your body in shape, and is considered a fun activity. People start jogging around the block, usually, and when they think they can handle more, they move up, to longer distances. You might have noticed that people jogging have one thing in common. They’re all wearing headphones and probably listening to music.

Considering how long a jogger can run for, having something to listen to while doing this, makes a lot of sense. However, they’ve had to find one mp3 player that would not skip tracks, due to moving, like the older mp3 players did, and little bigger than modern mp3 players that can so easily fall out of your pocket.

Using an armband to attach your player to, seems to be popular, and they have become much better than the original versions. But even though they allow people to carry larger mp3 players attached to them, some find it very uncomfortable and are still looking for something to please them.

The sansa clip 2gb player comes with something new. As its name suggests, it has a clip that allows it to be attached to all your clothes, ensuring it doesn’t fall and doesn’t inconvenience you, either. Just make sure you don’t forget the player attached to your clothes when your throw them into the washing machine. It’s so small, it can easily be overlooked.

Knowing their mp3 player is safe, while jogging, allows people to focus more on themselves and their activity, instead of the player. This permits people to handle their breathing and pace much better, but also allows them to enjoy the nice scenery, which they might have missed before. You’ll find that once you’re all setup with a great mp3 player, it’ll do a fantastic job of making your jogging time go faster while you listen to a great audio book or some good music.

Lose Weight By Taking These Steps

It is simple science. A single pound of fat contains 3500 calories of energy. Therefore, if you are looking to lose a pound of fat per week, you need to ingest 3500 less calories than you burn per week. The key to achieving this goal is by reducing your calorie intake by 500 calories per day. Doing so will allow you to lose around a pound of fat per week.

Sounds reasonable, right? Especially is you are 25 pounds or more overweight. In fact, it has been scientifically proven that people who lose weight at this gradual rate are far more likely to maintain this trimmer weight for good.

Now the task is to figure out what needs to be cut out of your diet to reduce it by 500 calories per day. I am sure that we can find a few things. In fact, I have compiled a list below to give you some ideas.

1. Use milk and hold the cream when it comes to coffee. Doing so will cut 50 calories.

2. Get rid of the butter on your baked potato. Doing so will save 100 calories.

3. Get rid of the sugary soda and replace it with clean flavored water. Doing this can cut 200 calories per 16 ounce can.

4. You cannot have it your way. Skip the Big Mac and have a salad instead. Doing so will save your body from ingesting 460 calories. If you just have to have a light salad dressing, this will only add about 100 calories to your salad, and you will still save 360 calories.

5. A bag of chips does you no good. Therefore, you can cut it out of your diet and save 300 calories.

6. Pass the corn please, but make sure it has ears. Corn of the cob consists of 80 less calories than canned corn.

7. Regular cream cheese or low-fat cream cheese. What is the difference? About 90 calories, that’s what.

8. If you must have French fries, at least order the thick cut. A little known fact is that thin fries actually absorb more grease than the thick cut. This will cut about 50 calories per 4 ounce serving.

Guess what? You can do other things to lose weight which do not involve food. For instance, physical activity is a great way to burn calories. Let us look at some activities that you can engage in.

1. A great activity to lose weight is simply walking for 30 minutes a little faster than a casual stroll. This will burn 160 calories.

2. Get on a bike and ride for 5 miles. Doing so will burn 250 calories.

3. So you think you can dance? If not, do it anyways. Just one hour of dancing burns up to 400 calories.

4. Who does not like to swim here? Swimming is a great way to burn calories and avoid impact on your joints. A few slow laps over the period of an hour will burn over 500 calories.

5. Most people see gardening as a hobby. However, this hobby involves bending and stretching, which can burn as many as 250 calories. Furthermore, it keeps your mind off of unhealthy food.

6. You should take up tennis. Tennis is one of those sports which enables you to burn 800 calories in an hour of fun.

The above calorie burning figures are based upon the activities of a 130 pound woman. Therefore, if you weigh more than 130 pounds, you will burn more calories than what is stated above. This is great new. Also, these activities not only cause your body to burn calories, but also gain muscle. Muscle enables your body to burn more calories in a resting state.

If you want to see the best results, cut back on your calories and exercise. However, do not starve yourself. If you eat less than one-thousand calories per day, your body will be convinced that it is starving, and your metabolism will slow down drastically as a defensive mechanism against starvation.

The key is to keep your calorie intake at a healthy level, which being physically active. Stay on track by keeping record of both your calorie intake and exercise over the weeks and months, and you will see the results you were looking for.

If you are looking for weight loss help, then you should probably consider this weight loss solution.

The Connection Between Your Glands And Obesity

April 16, 2010 by Chandrasekaran Rajamani
Filed under Weight Loss

It is found that glands play a major role in the formation and distribution of fat in our body. They might have contributed to your overweight body. Let us examine the possible causes here. The glands in the body are pituitary gland located at the base of the brain, the adrenal gland located above the kidneys, the thyroid gland located near wind pipe, the pancreas gland located behind the stomach, the sex glands located in the reproductive region.

The pituitary gland produces hormones that control sex glands and the thyroid. It also produces two other hormones which control the fat deposit and the release of fat from cells. When these two work in tandem they balance each other. If the hormone that is responsible for the fat deposit is overproduced then the equilibrium is disturbed resulting in more fat deposit.

The role of adrenal glands in our body’s metabolism is an important one. They are two pea sized glands situated near the kidneys. It’s function is to produce twenty important substances such as cortisone. If this gland becomes overactive,it results in a unique pattern of fat deposit in the body such as excessive fat at the hips, upper chest over the spine and the cheeks.

The thyroid gland is situated near the windpipe. It comes under the control of pituitary gland and it produces iodine rich hormone which has fat burning characteristics. An active thyroid gland produces enough of this hormone to keep the fat in check. If for some reason thyroid becomes less active, it results in less production of this hormone causing fat to be stored instead of burned. So an under active thyroid surely contributes to fat and weight gain.

The function of pancreas gland is to produce insulin. It is located near the stomach. It produces insulin which helps to convert carbohydrates into fat. Insulin tends to store fat and stops the release of the fat, resulting in overweight. Persons who are obese tend to have overactive pancreas gland.

The sex glands in men and women are called testes and ovaries respectively. If the sex glands are removed for some reason such as accident, the man and the woman both tend to put on weight. This goes to show the effect of sex glands on putting on weight and fat.

Low-Cal Diets, Are They Safe?

March 16, 2010 by Dave Owen

A few dieticians say that counting calories and following a low-calorie diet is the best approach to reducing your weight. The combination of lowering the calories we eat along with raising the number of calories we burn in a day equals weight loss. This is the basis for the low-cal diet. If you examine diets closely, most of them start with the 1000 to 1500 calories a day basis. It is however, a wrong assumption that everybody can reduce their weight on 1000 calorie a day diet. The total number of calories required for you to function is based on your current weight, your rate of metabolism, and how much exercise you participate in during each day. Taking all of this into consideration, what is the right number of calories for you may not be the same amount for someone else.

You can safely lose a pound of weight each week. When you first start dropping weight, you will lose water weight. So it will seem like you are dropping more weight than that but it is only water weight. A dietician can help you to determine the proper amount of daily caloric input that is right for you. You can also find out the amount you should take in if you wish to lose approximately a pound of weight each week.

It is very important that what you eat is nutritious and not just reduced in calories. You still need to have vitamins and minerals and enough protein. Protein is very important for strengthening your muscles, teeth along with maintaining proper skin tone. You need to include protein sources in your diet. Items that will include lean meat, chicken, eggs, beans, nuts, and fish. Most quality diets will suggest two sources of protein a day.

Despite the fact that low-carb diets are very popular, dieticians believe that the majority of us require 100 grams of carbohydrates per day. We also should eat 20 grams of fiber each day because we need it for good digestion. Dieticians also say that less than 1/3 of our calories should come from the fat we consume if you want to keep off the extra weight.

It is not a good idea to avoid meals in order to try to stick to a low-calorie diet. In order to keep your metabolism moving, you need to eat every few hours.

Water should be a large part of any diet low-calorie. Your body requires a minimum of eight glasses of water each day if you are trying to lose weight.

The danger involved in a low-calorie diet is that individuals may be tempted to take in fewer calories than are necessary for the normal body functions. Your body requires energy for your muscles to function. Also, when you cut down on calories you do so by cutting out food. And, when you do this, you cut out essential nutrients.

Clearing Out Your Acne Problems

February 16, 2010 by Lyndon Rodriguez

Are you over the age of 25 but you feel as if you’re still in your adolescent years because of your acnes? If you are still suffering from pimples, blackheads, zits, and more, then puberty has nothing to do with it. Clearing out acnes isn’t simple. Before you want to extinguish them, you might want to keep them first from existing.

To start with, you need to get a healthy lifestyle. Clear out the toxins from your body by eating non-greasy foods, avoiding alcoholic and caffeinated drinks, and drinking lots of water. Also, try to adapt a regular workout schedule and avoid stress. Smoking also clogs our pores and adds toxins in our body, so that should be one of the list of things you should avoid doing. And of course, apply good hygiene.

Those preventive methods may help keep the acnes from adorning your face and body, but what if you already have them?

There are topical creams and gels that you can use to dry out pimples or acnes fast. Over-the-counter medicines, such as those containing benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid, may be used in mild to moderate cases. There are also those natural remedies that some people swear by. They recommend honey, oatmeal, ginger, and even plain ice to heal acnes.

However, if you have acute acne case, topical medicines are not enough.

Severe acne cases should be treated internally. As topical creams or gels can’t kill the source of the problem. Oral antibiotic drugs may help those who suffer from serious acne problems. But oral drugs, such as those containing erythromycin or any of the tetracycline antibiotics, may have side effects. Consult a dermatologist before taking any oral medicines.

For some girls, acnes are a monthly thing. Each time their menstrual cycle is about to start, women’s hormonal level fluctuates, causing oil secretion of the glands. There are those who find taking oral contraceptives helpful in eliminating their acnes.

There are no exact ways to clear out acnes. While some remedies work for others, there are those who find them a waste of time and money. Your soundest bet is to lead a healthy lifestyle. Although it’s not a full guarantee that you will not have a single acne on your face again, it will help lessen the problem.

Dr. Komathy offers acne clearing among many others. Other aesthetic concerns such as hair loss is also available at The Lifestyle Clinic.
