Are Wu Yi Tea and Oolong Tea the Same Thing?

Simple! Because wu yi tea is oolong tea. Confusing? It is not, really, but first you should know a few things about the various types of tea.
Camellia sinensis is the plant for which all real teas are harvested. The final product, or variety, depends on how it is processed.
Over 75% of tea produced in the world is the highly popular black tea. The leaves are harvested and then withered by leaving them out. The remaining moisture is then rolled out via a machine (CTC) or the old-fashioned way by hand (orthodox). The hand method leaves the tea in tact more while the CTC method is a bit harsher leaving the leaves more crushed.
They are then spread out in a cool, damp place to oxidize. This turns the leaves from green to brownish color. The tea leaves are then dried using hot air. Finally, the tea is sorted into various grades depending the final leaf size.
Green tea goes through a similar process, however the oxidation step is left out which allows the leaves to remain green. Instead, after the tea is dried, it is steamed to stop the oxidation process. This also helps maintain the integrity of the nutrients in green tea, though black tea also retains some of its nutritional value. Green tea is rather grassy in flavor due to the lack of oxidation.
Now, white tea is a rather special little tea. It is harvested only few days a year when the buds on the Camellia sinensis plant have yet to open. White tea processing is like green tea, but the young leaves lend to a very delicate, smooth flavor and aroma. We are finally seeing more white tea distribution, though it was once reserved for Chinese nobility. Because of its difficulty in harvesting, it is rather pricey.
Perhaps oolong is the best tea because it is not as pricey as white tea, but it has a great flavor more like black tea. Plus, it retains most of its nutrients and weight loss capabilities like green tea and white tea. Unlike white or green tea, oolong tea is oxidized to some extent, which is what lends to the flavor. However, it still has most of its nutrients and it can be harvested like green or black tea using more mature leaves.
Okay, so why do we call some oolong tea, wu yi tea? Think of it more as a brand name, but perhaps a bit more special. Wu yi tea is oolong tea so named for the chain of mountains where it grows. The Wuyi mountain chain in Northeastern China is home to the Camellia sinensis plant where wu yi tea is harvested.
You can sort of compare the naming to Florida oranges or Washington apples. This northeastern area of China is capable of growing the best tea in the world because of the climate. The soil, cool weather and protection from the mountains produce great tea.
Wu yi tea like white tea was once considered a gift for nobility. It is now available to the rest of the world who have embraced not only its health and weight loss benefits, but also it is gorgeous flavor more akin to black tea.

Are Wu Yi Tea Reviews Honest?

The short shorts and teeny bikinis are hanging on the store racks. Are you hoping you will be hot when the weather turns hot? Maybe you are perusing the internet for a weight loss product. Chances are you have stumbled across wu yi tea reviews and are wondering whether this is the right weight loss aid for you.
Just like green tea, wu yi (oolong) tea contains antioxidants and other properties that can help you lose weight and look fantastic by summer. That being said, you are probably wondering what to believe when it comes to wu yi tea reviews. Some are quite negative.
Are these wu yi tea reviews honest? Are the wu yi companies trustworthy? If you want to reap the rewards of wu yi tea like I did and look great in your summer clothes, you should know whether the wu yi tea review is honest.
Currently, there is a major wu yi tea scam being talked about in many wu yi (oolong) reviews. The wu yi company offers consumers a free trial, and then charges your credit card for auto shipments. Some wu yi tea reviews have reported losses over $150! You may lose weight, but you will definitely lose money!
There are wu yi tea reviews written by people who were not able to lose weight and feel as though they were scammed. Maybe, maybe not. There are certainly wu yi tea companies who sell poor quality tea that ends up containing very little pure wu yi tea. This is why it is very important to make sure that the company sells USDA CERTIFIED organic tea, and they are members of the BBB Online Reliability Program.
Another reason for lack of weight loss could simply be that the consumer did not realize they needed to diet and exercise along with drinking the wu yi tea. Some wu yi reviews would have you believe that they drank the tea and did not lose weight, yet the fail to mention the donuts they had for breakfast or that they did not move from the couch most nights.
Wu yi tea has been a WONDERFUL addition to my weight loss plan that also involves exercise and a healthy menu. Oolong (wu yi) and green tea help you continue to burn fat long after you have finished exercising. It also blocks some of the starch you consume, but it will not forgive TOO many junky foods in your diet.
Think about how many calories you consume in a day due to beverages such as sodas or lattes. By replacing these with ZERO calorie wu yi (oolong) tea, you may be able to cut 500 calories a day. This is equivalent to one pound of weigh per week to help you look fabulous by summer!
Wu Yi Cleanse is another product made by the Wu Yi Tea Company that cleanses your system and makes it easier for you to lose weight by ridding the body of weight gain toxins. There is also green tea in this product.
Part II: Wu Yi Tea Diet Plan

It is possible to look and feel amazing by eating highly flavorful, healthy foods and drinking wu yi oolong tea. I love my healthy menu and I have some great ideas for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and even dessert that you can enjoy and lose weight!
Okay, let us go over a basic meal plan using wu yi tea, lean proteins, whole grains, veggies, fruit and nonfat dairy. You will lose weight on a very satisfying meal plan that is healthy and delicious, AND you will be able to follow this way of eating for life to maintain your weight.
Ideas for breakfast: one poached egg on a piece of wholegrain toast (no spread) with diced tomatoes, herbs and/or pepper sauce OR cup whole grain cereal with strawberries, bananas and ” cup nonfat milk. Eat either breakfast choice alongside a mug of wu yi tea with fresh lemon juice.
The idea is to use either lean protein or a whole grain for the base of your breakfast and add veggies or fruit. Can you think of another way of achieving this? How about a piece of whole grain toast with a bit of Dijon mustard, two slices of deli chicken or turkey and some marinated mushroom leftovers from the night before? Veggies, fruits and whole grains contain fiber, which is an excellent way to start your day and lose weight!
Remember that eating frequently is part of my wu yi diet to raise your metabolism. You will have a mid-morning snack and a mid-afternoon snack. Use a lean protein with fruit or veggies. My favorite? I sprinkle a teaspoon of flaxseed in nonfat yogurt.
More snack ideas: fresh strawberries with a spoon of nonfat vanilla yogurt; almonds with mango; one slice deli turkey with one light string cheese. Do not forget to drink your wu yi oolong tea!
Lunchtime! Grab a handful of those pre washed spring greens or baby lettuces that I mentioned in the last blog post. Place them in a bowl and then add some lean protein. Try turkey, tuna, chicken, kidney beans or whatever you have handy. Use about two ounces which is a little less than the size of a deck of cards.
What is key in weight loss? Planning! Cook a piece of lean protein the night before to use with your salad the next day. You can simply prepare an extra piece at dinner time! You can prep veggies the night before as well!
How will you flavor your salad? Not with creamy dressings! These add LOADS of calories and you will not lose weight. Try lemon juice or balsamic vinegar. Pepper sauce is another interesting choice. Have refreshing glass of iced wu yi tea with an herbal berry tea added.
Supper is similar to lunch, though you can enjoy your veggies a side salad or incorporated with your lean protein. Couscous, quinoa or brown rice make lovely sides. Have a half a cup of one of those OR have a few more veggies or half a sweet potato. Marinate the lean protein ahead of time with the same zero calorie flavors and a bit of olive oil. Enjoy your supper with a mug of wu yi tea.
Do not forget dessert! I suppose that seems absurd when you are trying to lose weight, but many people deny themselves their cravings and sabotage their weight loss efforts by binging later. You can satisfy your salty or sweet craving with healthy choices.
People who enjoy salty foods should skip the chips and have a few cups of popcorn seasoned with pepper flakes or sea salt. Toasted pumpkin seeds are also satisfying. I have a sweet tooth and rather enjoy a mug of oolong and vanilla herbal tea with a tasty square of very dark chocolate. You might consider a bowl of berries with nonfat, sugar-free whipped topping.
Do not make the mistake of sacrificing flavor to lose weight. Wu yi oolong tea has a lovely flavor and aroma.

What You’ve Wanted to Know - Wu-Yi Tea

Words like free “radicals,” “toxins” and “antioxidants” fill news reports as fears advance due to dire statistics showing a steady climb in the number of cases of cancer and other dangerous diseases and conditions, including obesity. Wu-yi tea, a particular kind of oolong tea that’s grown in the mountains of China, is the latest addition to the list of hopeful alternatives to attract attention as a healthy way of losing weight and naturally protecting yourself from a host of ailments.
Wu-Yi Tea and Its Natural Health Benefits
The Fujian Province in the northwest of China is where wu-yi tea is harvested., and like all types of oolong tea, comes from the camellia sinensis plant, yet, what’s said to give the boost in antioxidants and polyphenols is the distinct process used to dry and ferment the tea leaves.
Thanks to research conducted by some of the world’s most brilliant scientists from Japan, China, the U.S., and Europe, we now know of the many natural components present within authentic wu-yi tea and how they each have a beneficial affect on the body. A substance naturally found within the tea that stimulates a process known as lipolysis is polyphenol, which in layman’s terms, means the break down of fat.
How Wu-Yi Tea is Grown and Harvested
complex and time consuming is what the growing and harvesting process is to produce authentic wu-yi tea, causing this tea to be more costly than others. Any producers that pass over any of these critical steps aren’t producing wu-yi tea the way it was intended and aren’t really making real wu-yi tea.
Step One: Following centuries of ancient custom, wu-yi tea leaves are picked in the early morning sun and then immediately set out to dry and age for a particular amount of time, which will actually depend upon the month of year and the position of the sun.
Step Two: The tea leaves are dried and cautiously shaken into woven baskets crafted from bamboo, which is said to “tenderize” the edges of the leaf, and then laid out on braided drying mats for curing.
Step Three: For the fermenting process, the leaves are brought indoors after two to three days of curing, this is critical for guaranteeing the most delicious tea that will also be packed full of important antioxidants and fat-burning properties.
Step Four: Next, leaves are hand-rubbed, which induces the releases of the various beneficial chemicals and enzymes and also heightens the tea’s flavor. Screening and detailed checking for quality are done before the process is complete.
Step Five: You, the consumer, drink the tea at least twice a day, without using any artificial sweeteners or additives, which will only neutralize the positive benefits of the tea.
There are actually many different varieties of wu-yi tea, including wu-yi jin mei, a member of the oolong or wu long category, but with so many to choose from, how is it possible to decide which is best for your needs and your tastes? While taste is simply a matter of individual taste, using genuine wu-yi tea is what truly matters most. The level of polyphenols and antioxidants are significantly higher in wu-yi tea, making it the complete addition to any sensible weight loss plan or health care regimen.
